Spring Series VIII – Rooster Run

CIG-Sponsored Junior Golf Tour of Northern California Crowns Winners at Spring Series VIII Championship at Rooster Run Golf Club in Petaluma

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (June 1, 2021) – Sponsored by Capital Insurance Group, the 2020-2021 Junior Tour of Northern California (JTNC) crowned champions Sunday at the Spring Series VIII Championship at Rooster Run Golf Club in Petaluma.

Chanhee Ryu shot 4-under par 140 and Asterisk Talley shot 2-under par 142 to win their respective divisions at the Spring Series VIII Championship held Saturday and Sunday at par-72 Rooster Run GC.

Ryu captured his first win of the season thanks to clutch play in the final round. On Sunday, he’d post a 4-under 68 that featured six birdies to go against two bogeys. A day earlier, Ryu was solid with an even-par 72.

Overall, Ryu had nine birdies over his 36 holes.

Ben Friedman and Andre Zhang came in tied for second at 147 after final rounds of 70 and 72, respectively. Friedman was awarded second place in a card-off.

Arjun Aujla, Will Huff and Jayden Ramos finished T-4 at 149.

In the Girls’ Championship, Talley won her second title of the season by also coming up big in the finale. On Sunday, she’d card a stellar bogey-free 69 with three birdies. She’d be the only girl to break 70.

A day earlier, Talley shot a 73 with two birdies and three bogeys.

Tavia Burgess was second at 145 after a final round 70, while Lily Peng was third at 147 after a 70.

Borina Sutikto placed fourth at 149. Audrey Wang was fifth at 151.

 

In the Boys’ First Flight Championship, Joshua Kim shot a final round 72 to come in at 145 and defeat runner-up Sean Kwok by three strokes. Kwok had a final round 73.

Andrew Callahan was third at 152, with Ray Zhang fourth at 153. Arden Xu, Reid Bradway and Jonathan Ng finished T-5 at 154.

In the Girls’ First Flight Championship, Rayne Ripperger shot a final round 76 and defeated Lucinda Wu in a card-off to win. Wu had a final round 78. Both players came in at 157.

Millie Wang was third at 159. Alanna Lee was fourth at 164, with Brielle Bedard taking fifth at 170.

The event concluded the Spring Series portion of the season. The next event on the JTNC calendar is the Summer Series I Championship, to be held June 12-13 at The Reserve at Spanos Park in Stockton.

Spring Series VII – The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch

CIG-Sponsored Junior Golf Tour of Northern California Crowns Winners at Spring Series VII Championship at The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch in Salinas  

 PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (May 24, 2021) – Sponsored by Capital Insurance Group, the 2020-2021 Junior Tour of Northern California (JTNC) crowned champions Sunday at the Spring Series VII Championship at The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch in Salinas.

Ethan Lien shot 8-under par 136 and Francesca Sumcad shot 2-over par 146 to win their respective divisions at the Spring Series VII Championship held Saturday and Sunday at par-72 The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch.

Lien picked up his third win of the 2020-21 season with stellar play both days. In Saturday’s opener, he’d post three birdies to go against just one bogey on his way to a 70. A day later, Lien was flawless, posting six birdies, including four on the back nine, on his way to a 66 and three shot win.

Runner-up Kyreece Romero also played under par each day, carding rounds of 70-69 to come in at 139. Third place went to Jaden Dumdumaya at 143 after a final round 72.

Trenton Stuart was fourth at 144. Arjun Aujla and Brady Siravo were T-5 at 145.

In the Girls’ Championship, Sumcad earned her first win of the season thanks to solid play each day. In the opener, she’d post two birdies helping her to a 74.

A day later, Sumcad had three birdies on her way to a front nine 34 and final round 72 to win by three shots over runner-up Sophie Thai. Thai came in at 149 after a final round 74.

Three players—Abigail Lin, Michelle Woo and Varnika Achanta—finished T-3 at 151. Lin would be awarded third place via a card-off (lowest final round).

In the Boys’ First Flight Championship, Ray Zhang shot a final round 75 to come in at 153 and defeat runner-up Hyunhu Na by three shots. Na had a final round 82.

Lucas Bernstein was third at 160, with Saxon McLane placing fourth at 161. Jonathan Ng was fifth at 162.

In the Girls’ First Flight Championship, Tiffany Chang shot a final round 77 to come in at 160 and defeat runner-up Kathleen Xie y 10 shots. Xie had a final round 81.

Third place went to Diya Kumar at 172. Alanna Lee was fourth at 174 and Caroline Gao was fifth at 175.

The next event on the JTNC calendar is the Spring Series VIII Championship, to be held May 29-20 at Rooster Run Golf Club in Petaluma.

Spring Series VI – Corica Park GC

 PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (May 17, 2021) – Sponsored by Capital Insurance Group, the 2020-2021 Junior Tour of Northern California (JTNC) crowned champions Sunday at the Spring Series VI Championship at Corica Park.

Jaden Dumdumaya shot 1-under par 143 and defeated three others in a sudden-death playoff and Selena Tang shot 3-over par 147 to win their respective divisions at the Spring Series VI Championship held Saturday and Sunday at par-72 Corica Park GC.

Dumdumaya picked up his third win of the 2020-21 season in dramatic fashion and moved himself to second place in the Boys’ Player of the Year standings with a clutch win sudden-death win on the second playoff hole over Julian Monas, Niall Shiels Donegan and Leonardo Vieira.

Dumdumaya, who had rounds of 71-72, had five birdies and an eagle in the pivotal final round of regulation.

Monas (75-68)  got into the playoff by playing his final five holes at 3-under par. Shiels Donegan (71-72) was fueled in part by a front nine 33, while Vieira (69-74) had an opening 69.

Avinash Iyer finished in fifth place, just a shot out of the playoff at 144.

In the Girls’ Championship, Tang earned her first win of the season in what was another clutch performance. With the title on the line, Tang had two birdies in the final round to come in at 75, defeating runner-up Ellie Bushnell by a stroke.

Tang had three birdies in the opening round. Bushnell, who opened with a 79, made a charge with a stellar 69 on Sunday that featured five birdies, including a run of four in a row on the back nine.

Ryan Flynn was third at 149 after a final round 73. Nicole Iniakov and Lauren Sung were T-4 at 150.

In the Boys’ First Flight Championship, Joshua Kim shot a final round 70 to come in at 141 and defeat runner-up Nathan Lee by seven shots. Lee had a final round 73.

Liam Eyer was third at 149, while Taiki Matsuya was fourth at 152. Richard Ding and Ray Zhang were T-5 at 155.

In the Girls’ First Flight Championship, Malia Loo shot a final round 81 to come in at 155 and defeat runner-up Caroline Gao by nine strokes.

Millie Wang came in tied at 164 with Gao. Gao won the card-off (lower final-round score).

Rayne Ripperger and Jiana Park finished T-4 at 165.

The next event on the JTNC calendar is the Spring Series VII Championship, to be held May 22-23 at The Club at Crazy Horse Ranch in Salinas.

First Flight Mother’s Day Tournament – Del Monte

A pair of winners was crowned at the annual JTNC Mother’s Day First Flight Championships at par-72 Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey.

Danish Sharma of San Jose won the Boys’ First Flight title, coming in with a score of 75. He’d defeat runner-up Joshua Kim of Danville by a shot. Helping Sharma get the victory was a clutch birdie on the 17th hole. Third place went to Ryan Nix at 77.

In the Girls’ First Flight Championship, Bella Ransi of El Dorado Hills shot 76 to win by four shots over runner-up Tiffany Chang (80) of Cupertino. Millie Wang was third at 81.

Next up on the JTNC calendar is the Spring Series VI Championship, to be held May 15-16 at Corica Park.

 PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (May 3, 2021) – Sponsored by Capital Insurance Group, the 2020-2021 Junior Tour of Northern California (JTNC) crowned champions Sunday at the Spring Series V Championship at Coyote Creek GC.

Steven Chen shot 4-under par 140 and Borina Sutikto shot 7-over par 151 and defeated Kiara Romero in a playoff to win their respective divisions at the Spring Series V Championship held Saturday and Sunday at par-72 Coyote Creek GC.

Chen picked up his first win of the 2020-21 season thanks in part to steady rounds of 70 each day. In Saturday’s first round, he’d post five birdies and an eagle to go against five bogeys. A day later, Chen had three birdies and an eagle to go against three bogeys.

The most important of Chen’s birdies came on the 18th on Sunday, which helped him hold off co-runners-up Zachery Pollo (69-72) and Jackson Koivun (70-71) by a stroke.

Pollo, who earned second place in a card-off, had a shot to tie Chen but had to settle for a par on the par-5 18th. Koivun did birdie the 18th but was still a stroke short.

Baron Szeto placed fourth at 144. Jaden Dumdumaya was fifth at 145.

In the Girls’ Championship, Sutikto notched her first win of the season in dramatic fashion, defeating Kiara Romero in a sudden-death playoff.

Sutikto, who had rounds of 76-75, came up clutch on the 18th, making birdie to forge a tie with Romero, who settled for a par on the closing hole.

Natalie Vo also had a shot at joining the playoff, but she’d also make par on the 18th to finish at 152.

Emily Luo was fourth at 155. Nicole Iniakov and Stella Cheng finished T-5 at 156.

In the Boys’ First Flight Championship, Ray Zhang shot a final round 79 and defeated Dylan Schelegle in a playoff to win. Both players finished with a two-day total of 160.

Nishad Wajge was third at 164. Lucas Bernstein was fourth at 167 and Jacob Reed was fifth at 168.

In the Girls’ First Flight Championship, Malia Loo shot a final round to come in at 156 and defeat runner-up Addison Claire Lee by seven shots.

Lucinda Wu was third at 168. Saisha Vibhute was fourth at 169 and Elana McGrew was fifth at 172.

The next event on the JTNC calendar is the First Flight Mother’s Day Championship, to be held May 9 at Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey.

Spring Series IV – Rancho Murieta CC

 PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (April 26, 2021) – Sponsored by Capital Insurance Group, the 2020-2021 Junior Tour of Northern California (JTNC) crowned champions Sunday at the Spring Series IV Championship at Rancho Murieta CC.

Jaden Dumdumaya shot 2-under par 142 and Ellie Bushnell shot 6-over par 150 to win their respective divisions at the Spring Series IV Championship held Saturday and Sunday at par-72 Rancho Murieta CC.

Dumdumaya picked up his second win of the 2020-21 season thanks in part to steady rounds of 71 each day. In Saturday’s first round, he’d post three birdies to go against two bogeys. A day later, Dumdumaya had four birdies and three bogeys.

The win was important, as it moved Dumdumaya into third place in the Boys’ Player of the Year standings.

Both Brady Siravo and Zachery Pollo tied for second at 145 after matching final rounds of 72. Siravo would earn second place in a card-off.

Ian Gilligan and Ben Ragland finished T-4 at 146.

In the Girls’ Championship, Bushnell also got her second win of the season. In a thriller, she’d hold off runner-up Asterisk Talley by a shot.

The difference for Bushnell was a back nine 34 that included two birdies and zero bogeys. Talley, who won the Spring Series III title, had a chance but double-bogeyed the closing 18th.

Amelia Garibaldi was third, just two shots off the pace at 152. Michelle Woo was fourth at 154.

Lexi Booras and Michelle Ho finished T-5 at 156.

In the Boys’ First Flight Championship, Ethan Huff shot a final round 74 to come in at 150, defeating runner-up Nathan Lee by two shots. Lee had a final round 74.

Joshua Kim was third at 154, with Reagan Baker placing fourth at 157. Richard Ding was fifth at 158.

In the Girls’ First Flight Championship, Lucinda Wu shot a final round 82 to come in at 169 and defeat runner-up Elizabeth Gong by a shot. Gong had a final round 83.

Alexis McCoy and Diya Kumar were T-3 at 174. McCoy won the card-off.

Bella Ransi and Jiana Park finished T-5 at 176.

The next event on the JTNC calendar is the Spring Series V Championship, to be held May 1-2 at Coyote Creek Golf Course in San Jose.

 

Spring Series III – Paradise Valley & Rancho Solano GC

 PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (April 12, 2021) – Sponsored by Capital Insurance Group, the 2020-2021 Junior Tour of Northern California (JTNC) crowned champions Sunday at the Spring Series III Championship at Paradise Valley GC and Rancho Solano GC.

Ian Gilligan shot 6-under par 136 and Asterisk Talley shot 4-under par 140 to win their respective divisions at the Spring Series III Championship held Saturday and Sunday at par-72 Paradise Valley GC and Rancho Solano GC.

Gilligan picked up his second win of the 2020-21 season thanks in part to solid rounds of 68 each day. On Saturday, Gilligan posted an eagle and three birdies to go against just one bogey. A day later at Rancho Solano, he carded six birdies to go against two bogeys to win by four shots over the field.

The win for Gilligan was also important in regards to the 2020-21 JTNC Boys’ Player of the Year race. He is now only 60 points behind Zachery Pollo.

Finishing second at 140 after a second-round 67 was Mason Benbrook. Third place went to Chanhee Ryu at 141 after a final round 68.

Jacob Larson and Clark Van Gaalen finished T-4 at 142.

In the Girls’ Championship, Talley notched her first win of the season thanks in part to a sensational first round 68 that included six birdies and an eagle to go against four bogeys. On the front nine on Sunday, Talley posted a 32.

A day after lighting up the course, Talley shot a solid 72 to win by two shots over runner-up Faith Low. Low posted rounds of 70-72.

Third place went to Madelyn Gamble at 144 (73-71). Kara Lee and Abigail Leighton finished T-4 at 145 following final rounds of 72 and 73, respectively.

In the Boys’ First Flight Championship, Taiki Matsuya shot a final round 74 to come in at 146 and defeat runner-up Christian Choi by two shots. Choi had a final round 76.

Third place was a tie between Nathan Lee and Enrico Diaz at 149. Lee earned third place in a card-off Ian Vovopich was fifth at 150.

In the Girls’ First Flight Championship, Emil Guan shot a final round 70 to come in at 146 and win by five shots over runner-up Millie Wang. Wang had a final round 72.

Elizabeth Liu and Lucinda Wu finished T-3 at 156. Liu would earn third place in a card-off. Erin Lee and Samantha Chiou finished T-5 at 160.

The next event on the JTNC calendar is the Spring Series IV Championship, to be held April 24-25  at Rancho Murieta Country Club in Rancho Murieta.

Spring Series II – Paso Robles GC

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (March 29, 2021) – Sponsored by Capital Insurance Group, the 2020-2021 Junior Tour of Northern California (JTNC) crowned champions Sunday at the Spring Series II Championship at Paso Robles GC.

Ethan Lien shot 5-under par 135 and Ryan Flynn shot 9-over par 149 and defeated Olivia Duan in a playoff to win their respective divisions at the Spring Series II Championship held Saturday and Sunday at par-70 Paso Robles GC.

Lien picked up his second win of the 2020-21 season thanks in part to a stellar second round 66 that included six birdies to go against just two bogeys.

In Saturday’s first round, Lien shot a 69. Second place went to Curtis DaSilva at 138 following a second round 68.

Third place went to Luke Montoya at 139 after a 65. Three players—Edan Cui, Arnold He and Trevor Moquin—all tied for fourth at 141.

In the Girls’ Championship, Flynn notched her first win of the season in dramatic fashion, beating Duan in a playoff. In Saturday’s opener, Flynn opened with a solid 72 that included three birdies. A day later, she posted a 77. Duan had opened with a 71 but closed with a 78.

There was also a tie for third place, as Tavia Burgess and Michelle Ho each came in at 151 after final rounds of 74 and 78, respectively. Burgess was awarded third place following a card-off (low back nine score).

Fifth place went to Kara Lee at 152.

In the Boys’ First Flight Championship, Joshua Kim shot a final round 70 to come in at 142 and defeat runner-up Nathan Lee by three shots. Lee had a final round 72.

Jiakai Zhang and Cru Sullivan tied for third at 150. Benjamin Wang and Liam Eyer finished T-5 at 151.

In the Girls’ First Flight Championship, Erin Lee shot a final round 75 to come in at 152 and defeat runner-up Giana Gunasayan by 11 shots.

Third place went to Millie Wang at 165. Jiana Park was fourth at 179 and Peyton Stocke was fifth at 185.

The next event on the JTNC calendar is the Spring Series III Championship, to be held April 10-11 at Paradise Valley GC and Rancho Solano GC in Fairfield.

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (March 22, 2021) – Sponsored by Capital Insurance Group, the 2020-2021 Junior Tour of Northern California (JTNC) crowned champions Sunday at the Spring Series I Championship at Stockton G&CC and Elkhorn GC.

Clark Van Gaalan shot 3-under par 139 and Skyler May shot 6-over par 148 to win their respective divisions at the Spring Series I  Championship held Saturday and Sunday at par-71 Stockton G&CC and par-71 Elkhorn GC.

Van Gaalan earned his first win of the 2020-2021 season thanks in part to a solid first round 67 that featured four birdies and an eagle. He’d post a Sunday front nine 33 en route to winning by three shots.

In Sunday’s second round at Stockton G&CC, Van Gaalan shot a 72 with two birdies.

Brady Siravo earned second place at 142 following a second round 72. Third place went to Leonardo Vieira at 143.

Fourth place went to Julian Monas at 144. Jaden Dumdumaya was fifth at 146.

In the Girls’ Championship, May picked up her second win of the 2020-2021 season thanks in part to a stellar second round 71 that included three birdies to go against three bogeys. Her score would give her a two-shot victory over three players—Kiara Romero, Adora Liu and Ellie Bushnell.

In Saturday’s opening round, May shot 77. Romero, Liu and Bushnell all shot identical rounds of 73-77 to come in at 150. Romero earned second place in a card-off (low back nine score), with Liu placing third.

Natalie Vo, Michelle Woo and Asterisk Talley all finished T-5 at 152.

In the Boys’ First Flight Championship, Nathan Lee shot a final round 73 to come in at 147 and defeat runner-up Ryan Wise by three shots. Wise had a final round 74.

Joshua Kim was third at 153. Cru Sullivan and Benjamin Wang were both T-4 at 155.

In the Girls’ First Flight Championship, Emily Guan shot a final round 85 to come in at 168 and defeat runner-up Bella Ransi by two shots. Ransi had a final round 89.

Elizabeth Liu and Lucinda Wu were T-3 at 173. Erin Lee and Addison Claire Lee were T-5 at 174.

The next event on the JTNC calendar is the Spring Series II Championship, to be held March 27-28 at Paso Robles Golf Club in Paso Robles.
